What is Summer University?

Universität Stuttgart, a top ranked technical university in Germany, offers a six week summer study program to Case School of Engineering students. Summer University is an opportunity for students to experience European life and culture while learning the German approach to architecture, art history, and European studies.

Who is eligible and when would I go?

All Case School of Engineering Students that have completed at least one year of classes are eligible for Summer University. Your commitment to the course program would be for six weeks. Summer University begins in late May and continues through early July.

Why Universistät Stuttgart?

Of the 18,500 students enrolled at Universität Stuttgart, 25% are international, offering a supportive atmosphere for Case students. Universität Stuttgart has repeatedly been ranked among the top technical colleges of Germany and its location offers a unique environment. The city of Stuttgart, a populous state capital, is home to some of Germanys larger businesses and serves as an important industrial center. Located in a valley, Stuttgart offers lush forests, parks, gardens, and vineyards.

What if I don't know German

One of the classes you will engage in is a German language course. Based on your knowledge of the language, you will be placed in one of three elementary or intermediate level classes. The elementary German courses require little to no previous knowledge of the language and focus on conversation skills and basic language structures. The intermediate German course focuses on grammar, discussion, conversation, and further development of language skills.

What other courses can I take?

In addition to the German language course you will be enrolled in, the course program requires three subject classes. One course is taken in each of the subjects Architecture, Art History, and European Studies, which are taught in English.

What else does Summer University have to offer?

Classes are combined with activities to enhance students' knowledge of German culture and language, such as museum visits, historical tours, and excursions. Students can choose to explore other German cities on these excursions and also tour some famous companies nearby.
