Global Exchange

global exchange students

The global economy is emerging and dictating the manner in which business is being conducted. Realizing the role that international relations assumes in education, the Office of Engineering Student Programs offers a Global Exchange Program. Maintaining current partnerships with international engineering universities and organizations and developing new resources and relations will be the task of the OESP. As a curricular enhancement option, students will have the opportunity to incorporate international experience into their education at the Case School of Engineering.

Participation in global exchange activities will optimize the student's educational experience as well as contribute to their societal awareness. Exposure to global activities will be a very valuable asset for future leadership positions within multinational corporations.

Exposure to different cultures through international programs allows for students to engage in exciting and new learning experiences.

The OESP will serve as the centralized office for international activity for the Case School of Engineering.

Some of the current offerings for international experiences include:

Exchange Program with Waseda University

The Case / Waseda Exchange Program is a four week experience designed to expose students to a different culture and language and to serve as a primer for future international experiences. Students learn the Japanese language, observe technical classes, and experience aspects of Japanese life. Time is spent interacting with students and faculty and living with a host family. Case also hosts the Waseda students each fall semester for four weeks. Click here for more information on the Case/Waseda Exchange.

Summer University at Universität Stuttgart

Universität Stuttgart, a top ranked technical university in Germany, offers a six week summer study program to Case School of Engineering students. The course program consists of one German language course and three additional courses, one each in Architecture, Art History, and European Studies. Classes are combined with other activities to enhance student's knowledge of German culture and language. The curriculum also supports excursions to other German cities and many local companies. Global Engineering Education Exchange (E3) Program

The Global E3 Program offers opportunities for American engineering students to study in one of 17 countries overseas at participating institutions. Engineering and computer science students can take courses internationally for one semester or a full academic year while receiving course credit at their home institution. In addition, these students could acquire an internship after one semester of study abroad to complement their international experience. International Association for the Exchange of Students for Technical Experience

An IAESTE Internship is a paid internship abroad. Positions are available in industry, research institutes, universities, consulting firms, labs, and other work environments. Most placements are for 8-12 weeks during the summer; longer placements of up to 12 months are also available. Click here for more information.
